APARTMENTS ON CONNOR IS PROUD TO SUPPORT

A small portion from every reservation is donated to Bali Animal Welfare Association

Donations Progress: $4,659

When we began our business back in May 2020, we wanted to be able to give back to a charity that really needed the support. We understand the importance of working towards a kinder future and believe that even just a small bit of generosity creates a ripple-effect that has the power to change the world.

Forming Apartments on Connor just weeks after the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic hit Australia, we set out on this venture with humility and gratitude. We are so thankful to our guests for choosing to stay with us and keeping our small business alive - we couldn't exist without you; the very least that we can do is to give back to those who need it the most.

We love all animals and have a soft spot for dogs in particular. Recalling a trip to Bali at the end of 2017 where we witnessed the sheer amount of stray, malnourished Bali dogs walking the streets with visible ribs showing and the saddest, desolate eyes, we knew exactly where our small act of kindness was desperately needed, and started researching animal welfare groups that focussed on helping the beautiful dogs in Bali. That's how we came across BAWA.

BAWA is a not-for-profit organisation based in Bali, Indonesia, who's team of dedicated volunteers work around the clock to save, protect and improve the lives of all animals in Bali. BAWA put a special focus on the beautiful Bali Heritage Dog and the Highland Kintamani which are possibly the oldest breed of dog known to man, but sadly are at threat of extinction.

The BAWA Hotline receives around 60 calls every day, operating Bali’s only free animal ambulance service which rescues and treats more than 1,000 animals in distress every year. It is Bali's first response to emergencies in the fight against animal suffering in Bali.

BAWA directly relieves the suffering of animals by providing emergency response and rescue, food and medication, rehabilitation and adoption. BAWA practices humane population control, disease control and runs intensive education and advocacy programs for sustainable improvement to animal welfare now and into the future. BAWA is funded entirely by donations.

BAWA was founded in 2007 by Janice Girardi, an internationally-recognized artist who created a jewellery line centered around kindness. Janice Girardi Designs for BAWA are a beautiful collection inspired by the historic Bali Heritage Dog, as well as Bali’s many other beautiful animals. Janice combines natural stones with detailed and innovative metal working techniques to create unique and timeless jewellery.

Janice has given us a range of this special collection to sell here in Australia - you can now view and purchase these gifts of kindness, directly through our website or in person during your stay! Since 2021, Apartments on Connor has sold over $3,600 of Janice's stunning line and have brought many pieces ourselves  - the perfect gift for animal-lovers and a special reminder of the kindness that exists in this world.

When you buy Janice Girardi Designs for BAWA, 100% of the profits goes directly to BAWA.
