Chihuahua Rescue QLD is a foster-based organisation founded in 2014. CRQ rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned, impounded and surrendered chihuahuas, chihuahua crosses and other small dogs in Queensland.
The Chihuahua Rescue Queensland team consists of a group of passionate and committed dog lovers with years of experience rescuing and caring for dogs. CRQ was originally founded by a team of vet nurses, vets and dog trainers who committed to build a rescue group with high standards of veterinary care for each and every dog that came into their care. CRQ are committed to maintaining high standards and goals for their rescue group and each animal in their care.
As they don't have a shelter, each dog is cared for in a foster home. CRQ's foster dogs are treated as family members by their foster carers who are located in the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast areas. They believe that by placing each dog in a loving foster home, they are able to get to know them on a personal level and best match them to their forever home.
Coby has been able to personally witness the amazing work of CRQ since adopting Phoebe on 10 April 2022.
Phoebe was one of six dogs that CRQ rescued from the Sunshine Coast. The dogs had been left in a run-down cottage out the back of an elderly ex-breeder's property with next to no human contact except for a relative who periodically took food and water to them when visiting. The conditions these little dogs were found in were nothing short of horrific and it's upsetting to think of them left in the closed up old hoarding dump in the summer heat, surrounded by their own feces and fighting for food scraps.
Coby adores Phoebe and is so grateful to CRQ for giving her the opportunity to show Phoebe what life should be like, surrounded by love.
